MEET THE AUTHOR
Charavina Reader is the founder of the Yes You Can! Initiative, and author of the book Dear Little Black, Girl Yes You Can! Born and raised in Winston-Salem, Charavina has seen the city from all angles: from a curious student in the WS/FC school system to an adult engaged in the ever-growing community. With great hope to continually create a thriving Winston-Salem, Charavina's desire to serve people from the youngest to the oldest has taken her on a creative and beautiful journey.
Starting with a dream at only 9 years old to become an entrepreneur, 21 years later Charavina has made her dream a reality. She has since become a published author and started her own beauty business, No Lye Natural Beauty. The Yes You Can! Initiative was born from Charavina's realized dreams to help spark the imagination of children to dream the big dreams without limitations and more importantly to give children the opportunity to imagine their big dreams realized one day as well. She has proven the Yes You Can! mantra: "Despite what they say and with a plan, Yes You Can!"
